Timepath Product Update – August 2025

This month, we’re rolling out three major improvements designed to make your storytelling more interactive, flexible, and engaging. And we have a sneak peek at what’s coming next.

1. Comment Feature – Now live

Collaborate directly on timelines by adding general or event-specific feedback. This feature is designed to support teamwork and editing of timelines. You can also mark comments as open or completed to track progress.

Key points:

  • Provide general feedback or event-specific feedback.

  • Mark comments as completed or "to do."

  • Tag users in the comments.

Getting started:

  • Go to the timeline editor

  • Click on 'comment' in the top navigation

  • Add comments and tag users

  • Monitor and manage comments easily through the comment panel.

2. Advanced Timeline – Now live

Our most advanced timeline template ever gives you greater control over how events are displayed and how your audience can explore them.

What’s new:

  1. Start and end dates for events – perfect for showing events as time periods, not just single points.

  2. Relative positioning – events are placed based on their time span, helping readers understand sequence and overlap.

  3. Event cards – choose between simple dots or detailed cards with summaries, images, and links.

  4. Zoom levels – navigate through centuries, decades, 5-year spans, years, months, weeks, and days.

  5. Full-screen view – click any event to see it in a distraction-free, full-size display.

Extra controls:

  • Advanced control panel for intuitive zoom and scroll.

  • Flexible views to switch between compact or detailed mode.

  • Custom date range for the whole timeline to keep focus on relevant periods.

3. Quiz with open questions – Now live

Quizzes are no longer limited to multiple choice. You can now create open-ended questions where participants type their answers.

New options:

  1. Multiple correct answers – accept different valid responses.

  2. Case sensitivity – choose if answers must match exact casing.

  3. Image enlargement – when an image is attached, participants can click to see a larger view.

How to create an open question:

  • Open the Quiz Editor and add a new question.

  • Select “Open Question” as the type.

  • Add your question text and optional image.

  • Enter all valid answers and set case sensitivity.

  • Publish your quiz and review responses.

*Coming soon – Map-based navigation

Launching in early September, map-based navigation will add a spatial dimension to your stories. You’ll be able to link events to specific locations and let readers “fly” across a map from one moment to the next.

Why it’s exciting:

  • Place-based storytelling – combine when and where something happened.

  • Interactive maps – pan, zoom, and follow a guided route.

  • Perfect pairing – use alongside the Advanced Timeline for richer context.
