Timepath Update January 2026: Enhanced Timelines, Typography & Script

We’re kicking off 2026 with some major upgrades to Timepath, giving journalists more control, creative flexibility, and performance than ever before. From timelines to liveblogs and quizzes, these new features make it easier to craft professional, engaging, and fully branded content for any device.
Timepath Timeline-maker upgrades
Several new upgrades have been added to the Timeline-maker, offering users enhanced control and greater design possibilities:
Transitioning cover: Add multiple images to your timeline cover that transition automatically. You can adjust the duration of each image and change their order, creating a dynamic and fully customizable first impression.
Mobile & desktop images: Upload images tailored for mobile or desktop, ensuring your timeline looks great and provides the best reader experience on any device.
Photo credits: Give credit where it’s due by adding photo credit details when uploading images to your timeline.
Categories: Label each event in your timeline with a category to make complex timelines easier to filter and navigate. For example, a timeline about major protests could be viewed from different perspectives, such as local media, international coverage, and eyewitness accounts.
Colophon: Add a colophon to the end of your timeline to showcase credits and include “read more” links.
Branding: Customize your timelines with logos, colors, and fonts to match your newsroom’s brand. Make your content look professional, cohesive, and instantly recognizable.
Event card: Customize your event cards with background images or colors, adjustable opacity, rounded borders, shadows, and card height. Full-height cards give you control over content placement for maximum design flexibility.
Typography Upgrades
Our latest typography upgrades make it easier than ever for journalists to customize their timelines, liveblogs, quizzes, and other interactive content exactly the way they want. You now have more control over:
Font family: Choose from a wider selection to match your brand and style.
Size & weight: Adjust text size and weight for readability and emphasis.
Line Height: Fine-tune spacing to make your content look clean and organized.
Color & Highlight: Match your newsroom colors or draw attention to key points
All of these font settings can be adjusted separately for desktop and mobile, as well as for titles, paragraphs, dates, categories, and indexes (which can be displayed in event cards). This gives you full flexibility to create content that looks polished, professional, and perfectly on-brand across all devices.
NEW: Embed via script
In addition to iFrame embedding, you can now embed your timelines, liveblogs, collections, and other Timepath products via script. This method improves performance and SEO by making your content part of the page itself. To use it, go to Share > Embed > Script and copy the provided code into your website’s HTML.
