Timepath’s Commitment to Accessibility and WCAG Compliance

March 26, 2025

Timepath is committed to creating accessible timelines for all users. We are actively working toward full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, including keyboard navigation, ARIA support, and screen reader compatibility.

Timepath Accessibility Commitment – WCAG 2.1 AA Compliance in Progress

At Timepath, we believe that digital experiences should be accessible to everyone — regardless of ability. As part of our ongoing mission to build meaningful and engaging timelines, we are committed to aligning with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, in accordance with DIRECTIVE (EU) 2016/2102 for public sector websites and applications.

Why Accessibility Matters

Accessibility isn’t just a feature — it’s a fundamental principle of inclusive design. Whether our timelines are embedded in educational platforms, government portals, or corporate websites, we want every user to be able to interact with them seamlessly and independently.

What We’re Doing Right Now

We’ve already implemented several accessibility features to support users with diverse needs:

  • Keyboard Navigation: All Timepath timelines can be navigated using a keyboard. Users can move through events using arrow keys and activate content with Enter or Space.

  • Standardized Font Sizes: We use consistent and legible font sizes across our templates, ensuring readability across devices and screen sizes.

  • Scroll Indicators: Visual indicators clearly show when more content is available, making it easier to navigate timelines with confidence.

  • Semantic HTML Foundations: Our product uses meaningful structure and markup, laying the groundwork for accessible content delivery.

What We’re Working On

We’re actively enhancing our platform to meet full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance. Current areas of focus include:

  • Adding ARIA labels and landmarks to improve compatibility with screen readers.

  • Improving focus management so users always know where they are within the timeline.

  • Ensuring color contrast ratios and visual cues meet accessibility standards.

  • Testing with assistive technologies (like screen readers) and validating our work with accessibility tools.

Looking Ahead

Our goal is not just to meet the standards — but to embrace them as part of how we build. We're collaborating with public sector partners to ensure Timepath can be confidently used in government and educational contexts.

We view accessibility as an ongoing journey, and we welcome feedback from our users to help us improve. If you have suggestions or questions about accessibility in Timepath, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
