The Birth of Miley Cyrus

Destiny Hope Cyrus was born on November 23, 1992. Cyrus was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She is the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, the popular country singer, and Leticia. She is the younger brother of Trace who is a vocalist and guitarist of Metro Station. Her older sister, Brandi, as well as Trace, were from Leticia’s previous relationship. She also as an older brother, Christopher Cody who is her father’s son from a previous relationship. She also has a younger brother, Braison, and a younger sister, Noah.  

Cyrus Develops an Interest in Acting

Miley Cyrus developed an interest in acting when she was 9 years old. She began taking classes at the Armstrong Acting Studio in Toronto, Canada. This was done while her family was temporarily residing in Canada. They stayed there for four years. 

Cyrus Plays Young Ruthie in ‘Big Fish’

Miley Cyrus Played Young Ruthie in ‘Big Fish’ on January 9, 2004. Big Fish is a fantasy drama film that was directed by Tim Burton. It was written by John August. It is somewhat based on Daniel Wallace’s ‘Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions’. The show stars Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney, Billy Crudup, Jessica Lange, Alison Lohman, Steve Buscemi, Helena Bonham Carter, Marion Cotillard, and Danny DeVito, and others. This film was supposed to be filmed by Steven Spielberg; however, Burton took on the project after the death of his father. 

Cyrus Auditions for the role of Hannah Montana

The young actress was only 12 years old when she first auditioned for the role of Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana. She also auditioned for the show’s “best friend” roles. Unfortunately, the executives at Disney Channel thought Miley was too young for the role. This rejection did not dissuade young Miley Cyrus.

Cyrus Plays Hannah Montana

Disney revisited the young actress and selected her to play the role of Hanna Montana. Gary Marsh, Executive Vice President of Disney shared that Cyrus was selected because of her energetic and lively performance in previous projects. They saw her as a combination of Hillary Duff and Shania Twain. 

Cyrus Releases ‘The Best of Both Worlds’

This song was performed by the young actress as Hannah Montana, the character Cyrus played on the Disney Channel series ‘Hannah Montana’. ‘The Best of Both Worlds’ was also used as the name of Miley Cyrus’s successful concert tour and the 3-D feature film ‘Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert’. 

The Premiere of ‘High School Musical 2’

Miley Cyrus made an appearance in ‘High School Musical 2’. The actress was credited as “girl at pool”. She was also a guest star on the Disney Channel’s ‘The Emperor’s New School’. She played the role of Yatta.

Miley Cyrus Releases ‘See You Again’

Miley Cyrus released ‘See You Again’ on September 15, 2007. The song was the second single her debut solo album. The song was written by Miley Cyrus and produced by Tim James and Antonia Armato. This was Miley Cyrus’ first song to make it to the Billboard Hot 100. This song opened the door for the success of songs like ‘7 Things’ and ‘The Climb’.

Miley and Her Father Hosts the CMT Music Awards

The 2008 staging of the CMT Music Awards was held on April 14, 2008. It was held at Belmont University’s Curb Event Center. Miley Cyrus and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus were the hosts of the event. They performed ‘Ready, Set, Don’t Go’. Later that year Miley Cyrus also hosted the Teen Choice Awards.

The Release of ‘Breakout’

Miley Cyrus released her second studio album, ‘Breakout’, on July 22, 2008. The record was published under Hollywood Records on July 22, 2008. The album debuted at the number one spot on the US Billboard 200 chart. It sold 371,000 copies in its first week. The album was certified Platinum by the RIAA three months later.

The Release of ‘Hannah Montana: The Movie’

‘Hannah Montana: The Movie’ was released on April 10, 2009, in the United States of America and Canada. Taylor Swift appeared in the movie as “woman singing in the barn”. The album was extremely successful. It grossed over $17 million on the day that it opened. The opening weekend of the film saw $32 million. The film became #1 spot at the box office.

The Release of ‘Can’t Be Tamed’

Miley Cyrus released her third studio album, ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ on June 18, 2010. The album was published under Hollywood Records. This album was the last project that Miley Cyrus did with Hollywood Records. She signed with RCA Records in 2013.

The Release of ‘Bangerz’

The release of ‘Bangerz’ cemented a total transformation in the image of Miley Cyrus. The years preceding the release of this project featured a Miley Cyrus who was trying to find her more mature identity. The album also re-established Miley Cyrus’s commitment to music as she made a decision to cease acting. 

Cyrus Announces That She is Gender Fluid

In June 2015, Time magazine shared that Miley Cyrus was gender fluid. The entertainer shared that she was willing to love any gender as long as both are of age and consenting. Miley Cyrus has shared with her mother when she was only 14 that she was pansexual.

Miley Cyrus Marries Liam Hemsworth

In December 2018, Miley Cyrus was married for the first time to Liam Hemsworth in a private wedding ceremony held in their home in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Miley and Liam Officially Divorce

After a little over a year of marriage, Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus’s divorce was finalized. After separating, Miley Cyrus dated Kaitlynn Carter for a while and then Cody Simpson. On August 2020, Cyrus announced that she broke up with Cody Simpson.
