Katherine Johnson

Childhood

Her childhood went pretty fast for her because how smart she was in school. At the time she was work hard to master gemotry and algebra. She only started high school when she was 10 years old! Most kids are only in the fourth or fifth grade when they're ten. But not only that she went to college only at 15 years old. Her father is also someone who was important to her that help become who she is. 

Education 

West Virgina State College was the college she went to, she enrolled in the college itself. She was very good in math and found a mentor in math professor. W.W. Schieffelin Claytor who was the third africian american to earn PhD helped her a bit. Were she later graduated with higest honors 1937.  Once she was out of school she took a job at all black public school.  

Marriage

Katherine left her job and enrolled in a math program. She only left school to start a family with her husband, James Goble. She went back to teaching once her daugthers got older and became more focus in her life. But until December 1956, her husband died of cancer while she was wrapping up her work. But later on moved on a few years later to her new husband, James A Johnson.

Impactful Event #1

Katherine Johnson becoming an aerospace technologist at NASA. Its impactful because it sets an example of presuing a career as women of color and inspiring for others as well.

Impactful Event #2

Katherine Johnson helps to calculate the first American space mission. Its impactful because she showed how she ensure success and safety which could help other scientists in future missions. 

Impactful Event #3

Katherine Johnson helps calcuate the Apollo 11 moon landing. It impactful because she shows how math is very important, NASA was so in her impressed and trusted her calcuations that John Glenn ask her double-check her calculations before his flight. 

Impactful Event #4

Katherine Johnson helps to calculate the Apollo 13 mission. Its impactful because there was an explosion on the spacecraft and her math help bring the atrsonauts back to earth. Just like the Apollo 11 mission she how math is very important.

Death

Katherine lived a long peaceful life but sadly, at the age of 101 she died of natural causes. She died on February 24, 2020 at Newport News, in Virgina.
