Formerly known as Ghana Telecom, Vodafone Ghana is a telecommunications company in Ghana.

Expansion and Service Enhancements

Vodafone Ghana expanded its network coverage and introduced new products and services, including mobile internet and enterprise solutions. The company also saw to the introduction of Vodafone Cash, a mobile money service, which enabled  customers to send and receive money, pay bills, and make purchases using their mobile phones. Vodafone Ghana invested in network infrastructure upgrades to improve call quality, data speeds, and overall service reliability.

The company then launched the "Instant Schools" initiative, which saw to the provision of free access to educational content via mobile devices to support learning in schools across the country.

Vodafone Ghana launched their 4G LTE services, which offered a high-speed internet connectivity to its customers. The company launched the "Healthline 255" service, that provided access to healthcare information via mobile phones, and contributed to improved healthcare outcomes.

Vodafone Ghana continued to invest in digital infrastructure and launched various digital solutions for businesses and consumers.

Vodafone Ghana launched "Instant Schools TV," expanding its educational initiatives to include televised educational content for students and teachers. The company strengthened its position as a leader in the Ghanaian telecommunications market, focusing on innovation and customer-centricity.

Sustainability Initiatives and Community Engagement

Vodafone Ghana reinforced its commitment to sustainability by implementing various environmental and social responsibility initiatives. The company launched the "Vodafone Business Heroes" program, supporting startups and small businesses with funding and mentorship opportunities. The company also expanded its digital inclusion efforts, providing access to digital skills training and resources to underserved communities.

Rebranding as Telecel

Vodafone Ghana announces its rebranding as Telecel, aligning its identity with its parent company and reflecting its commitment to innovation and sustainability. 

The Telecel Group, which is an Africa-focused telecommunication company announced its intentions to fully rebrand Vodafone Ghana to “Telecel” by the end of February 2024.

The group acquired 70% majority shares in Vodafone Ghana (Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited – GTCL) in February 2023.

Throughout the year, Vodafone Ghana implemented a phased transition to the new brand, ensuring continuity of service for its customers while communicating the rebranding initiative through various channels.

By the end of February 2024, Vodafone completes its rebranding process, unveiling a new logo, visual identity, and brand positioning, marking a new chapter in its journey as one of the leading telecommunications provider in Ghana.
