Eminem released his third album, “The Marshall Mathers LP” on May 23, 2000. The album sold 1.76 million copies in its first week. The success of this project outshined the Slim Shady LP. A man by the name of Matthew Hughes broke into Eminem’s kitchen with a paving stone. When the rapper woke up, Hughes was standing behind him. He told Eminem that he was there to murder him. Hughes was charged with first-degree home invasion. He was also charged with the malicious destruction of property.
